Can you imagine a CASTLE in Washington state?! Yeah, I wouldn’t be able to either unless you saw it in person. We have beautiful old French manor’s, but a castle is on a whole other level. A Thornewood Castle Wedding is magical all year round, but Nick & Ellie’s wedding at Thornewood Castle something else.
I have known Ellie’s Mom, Donna since she started working for my dad as a receptionist at his ENT office, so I have known Ellie since she was a little girl. She is now all grown up, beautiful and marrying Nick, who is such a great young man. Not only did they love my style, but they knew what I have gone through with my dad who has Parkinson’s disease. Ellie told me that her dad was also diagnosed with the disease and it affects him more physically. They weren’t sure if he was able to walk her down the aisle as it varies day by day. Something I know well. She also stated that the timeline of the reception would be based on whether he had enough energy to do a father/daughter dance. If he had it, PIVOT and do photos immediately.
The day came for their ceremony at St. Charles and he walked her down that aisle, so proud. I cried. Yep. Next, it was time to switch over to the rest of the wedding at Thornewood Castle. Ellie gave me 2 hours! 2 hours for mock getting ready, bride and groom portraits and wedding party photos. It was glorious even though it was a cloudy day. A Thornewood Castle wedding reception is just as magical. They left up the Christmas decor for Ellie who wanted a Christmas themed wedding.
They had a beautiful and full cocktail hour, dinner with a tearful and beautiful toasts from their friends and family. Once the reception started we just did the Mother & Son dance and first dance as a couple. Her dad was still resting from the eventful day. As we were about to secretly cut the cake, her sister came up to me and said their dad was up and dancing! Everything came to a stop and we got Ellie out there with her dad and they got to dance together. NOT A DRY EYE! I am even tearing up writing this. I was a mess through all the photos and after had to excuse myself to finish crying and recompose. The rest of the night was so much fun with dancing and laughter.
If you don’t believe me, then look at the beautiful photos of a Thornewood Castle Wedding. I would love to photograph more weddings here, so if this is right up your alley please contact me!
