Boy mom of 3, Star Wars lover, Taco aficionado, Wine connoisseur, Christ lover. I am just a lady passionate about photography and life. Life is too short to not smile.
James and Will’s rooftop couples session wasn’t just beautiful, it was powerful.
This LGBTQIA+ couples photography session in Seattle unfolded under a soft golden sky, with the skyline behind us and their love front and center. From the moment they stepped onto that rooftop, hand in hand, I could feel the deep love and connection between them. There were nerves at first (which is completely normal), but as soon as I began using prompts built around their love languages of physical touch and quality time, they just melted into each other.
I always take time to learn how my couples connect. Knowing your love languages helps me craft prompts and poses that feel genuine and grounded. For James and Will, that meant staying close, holding tight, and simply being present with one another. Watching them interact gentle, goofy, warm, and real was a quiet kind of magic.
James and Will are both in the military. That alone says a lot about the kind of strength and commitment they bring to the table, not just to their careers, but to each other. Will is a bit quieter and more reserved, but when it was just the three of us up on that rooftop, he came alive in the safest way. James, the more outgoing of the two, led with confidence and made sure his person felt secure and seen. Watching them fall into each other’s space like it was second nature? That’s what storytelling through photography is all about.
There was no pretending.
No need to perform.
Just real connection.
Real tenderness.
Real love.
Sessions like this are why I do what I do. I don’t take it lightly when couples trust me with their love stories, especially those who haven’t always been given the space to feel seen, known, and loved in every room. It’s an honor I carry with so much care. You deserve more than tolerance, you deserve celebration.
James and Will reminded me that love doesn’t need an audience or a perfect setting. Sometimes it just needs a quiet rooftop, a golden sunset, and someone behind the camera who’s paying attention.
